A holistic approach to comprehensive IT solutions for healthcare.
Background
Celerate, a technology company specializing in nonprofit solutions, faced significant challenges with their AI-Enhanced Knowledge Module—a knowledge retrieval system inspired by their work with leading medical associations. The system was designed to revolutionize how medical professionals access and utilize vast repositories of organizational knowledge.
Challenge
The original solution, implemented by another AWS partner, fell short of fully addressing the operational requirements, which led to:
- Incorrect responses presented to users.
- Unacceptable latency for a production-grade system.
- A near-unusable codebase with severe architectural flaws.
- No images or source document information were presented to the user.
- No guardrails were in place to prevent malicious questions and responses.
- The vectorized data was not properly integrated into OpenSearch and using a non-AWS 3rd party integration tool and service.

Solution
Celerate enhanced its GenAI, data, security, and performance by improving its Knowledge Module AWS in collaboration with Optimum Healthcare IT. This GenAI solution addressed the shortcomings and vulnerabilities of Celerate’s neurology chat application and achieved response times in seconds, incorporated guardrails and included images and source document locations for the user to access in chat responses.
